Course Overview

Legal exposure on commercial law and trade secrets accumulates through routine decisions taken without advice. The cost of getting trade secrets wrong is rarely the judgment; it is the years spent reaching it. The programme works equally well for those formalising this part of legal and contractual practice for the first time and those improving an existing approach. The method assumes participants will be challenged on their handling of commercial law and trade secrets and prepares them for it. Post-incident reviews keep identifying weaknesses in the wider legal and contractual practice agenda that were visible long before the incident. Participants leave with a method for trade secrets, not a set of opinions about it. They leave able to brief senior management on commercial law and trade secrets in terms that support a decision. Moving trade secrets from written policy into daily practice is not achieved by a single decision. Participants leave with a plan for this part of legal and contractual practice sized to what their organisation can realistically absorb.
